The show will immediatley follow the Islanders' matinee game against the Montreal Canadians. While unfortunately Alex will be a healthy scrach for this weekend's episode, Ken Rosenblatt of The Islanders Outsider will join Steve to report and reflect upon the afternoon's matchup against the Habs. To make things even more interesting, HNLI is hoping to host a special Habs guest.....can you say banter?! HNLI All-Star Edition Recap
Saturday's All-Star Edition of Hockey Night on Long Island was another extravagant hour of hockey talk, of course focused around the festivities in Atlanta. Paul Kukla of Kukla's Korner joined hosts Alex and Steve to discuss everything from Rick DiPietro starting in the All-Star game, to the new revamped skills competition, to the controversial absences of Marty Brodeur and Sidney Crosby. The HNLI chatroom was filled with Isles chatter like usual, making for another awesome episode. A Great Hour of Hockey Banter
Saturday's episode of HNLI was another awesome one with special guest Tom Mascioli of islesinfo.com. Hosts Alex and Steve, along with Tom, discussed everything from the recent string of injuries to Kyle Okposo's super start in Bridgeport. The trio, of course, touched on the recent play of Rick DiPietro and the logic behind sending Dubie to the Bridge. All of that and more made for an hour that just flew by on Saturday. Of course, it was great to have long time caller Vinny back, along with our other callers, IMers, and HNLI chatroom members. HNLI Midseason Special Delivers
Saturday's special 90-minute Midseason Special on Hockey Night on Long Island was surely one for the ages. With special guest Michael Fornabaio of the Connecticut Post, hosts Alex and Steve discussed the arrival of Kyle Okposo in Bridgeport, the status of Jeff Tambellini, and much more about the Islanders' top farm team, the Soundtigers. For the remaining 60 minutes, the guys covered the big club with special guest Bill from New York Islanders Fan Central. The trio broke down the team's current roadtrip, discussed Rick DiPietro's all-star selection, and finally evaluated (and debated) the first half of the team's season. The guys discussed who might be the midseason front runners for the "Nystrom Award" and graded the contributions of just about every Islander thus far. The show went right to the 90-minute mark, although the time just flew by thanks to some great contributions from the HNLI Chatroom. Mid-Season HNLI Extra-Special Edition
The NHL season has reached its midpoint, meaning that it's time for an extra special episode of Hockey Night on Long Island. This week it'll be not just one hour, but 90 minutes of pure Islanders talk. First, we will be joined by Michael Fornabaio, the Bridgeport Soundtigers' beat writer for the Connecticut Post, to cover Kyle Okposo Mania and discuss his first few games in action for the Tigers. From there on out, it's all about the big club and the midseason report. Hosts Alex and Steve will then be joined Bill from New York Islander Fan Central to analyze the team's first half of the season and look ahead to the remaining half. Double The Guests, Double The Fun
Saturday's episode of HNLI featured two great guests and an awesome hour of hockey talk. First, hosts Alex and Steve sat down with Angie from the OnTheNYIslesScene Blog to discuss hockey blogging as well as the latest in Isles hockey including the team's West Coast road trip, the play of both goaltenders, and much more. Later in the show, Neil Best of Newsday joined in to discuss the NHL Winter Classic, an outdoor game in New York, the league's TV situation, and the Islanders' media coverage. The conversation with Neil was so good that it ran right through the end of the live segment, making for a bit of bonus talk on the archived version. Happy New Year everyone and welcome to another exciting calendar year of Hockey Night on Long Island. With the Islanders on a recent hot streak, the first episode of the new year should be a blast.
