BD + DO = HNLI Saturday
Hockey Night on Long Island is excited to be joined by two "two-letter" guests this Saturday afternoon for an awesome hour of hockey talk. First, HNLI is excited to welcome BD Gallof of hockeybuzz.com to discuss all the latest happenings in Islanders country. Included in the agenda will be a recap of Friday night's game in New Jersey, the latest Isles injury updates, the recent play of Joey MacDonald and much more. Later in the show, hosts Alex and Steve will be joined by D.O., a Sabres blogger, from the "Die By the Blade" blog to discuss Saturday night's contest against Buffalo. It will be D.O.'s first HNLI appearance since the Isles and Sabres met in the playoffs in '06-07. (I know it still hurts) Again, HNLI listeners will get the opposition's perspective on the matchup, which always makes for some excellent banter. Throughout the course of the show, listeners can jump into the action by phone, IM, or in the HNLI chatroom. It is sure to be one heck of an episode this weekend, so make sure you tune in this Saturday at 3:30 PM EST.

HNLI Fantasy League Update
Through the first six weeks of the fantasy hockey season, HNLI host Steve leads the show's fantasy hockey league. His counterpart, Alex, still has some work to do as he currently resides in the fourth spot. Looking to make a jump in the standings, Alex has just picked up Isles' goaltender Joey MacDonald. The top listeners in the standings are "culinarypos" and Jeff from Plainview (aka New York Islanders). Regular caller Vinny finds himself in the cellar. Stay tuned for more HNLI fantasy updates.
Home and Home Sens Special Shines
Saturday's episode of Hockey Night on Long Island, in the midst of a home-and-home series between the Islanders and the Ottawa Senators, was another great episode with plenty of insight into the Isles, the Sens, and much more. Joined by special guests Mike Schuerlein (Blog Box) and StooLi (Sens Underground), hosts Alex and Steve covered everything from the recent play of Joey MacDonald to the LI Lighthouse project. With a special cameo by Roger, the 7th man, and plenty of other callers, Saturday's episode of HNLI was certainly an entertaining one. If you missed Saturday's episode or would like to hear it again, be sure to check out the archives on our show page or subscribe to the podcast version by searching "Hockey Night on Long Island" in the iTunes music store.

Recap: Gary and Frank Rock HNLI
Preceded a week choc' full of Islanders news and leading up to a huge divisional matchup, Saturday's episode of Hockey Night on Long Island certainly had the content to be a superb episode. Combine that with a pair of stellar guests and you have one of the most entertaining hours of hockey talk possible. That was certianly the story Saturday when hosts Alex and Steve were joined by Gary Harding of The New York Hockey Report (among other things) and Penguins blogger Frank D. of Pensburgh.com . With Gary, Alex and Steve discussed the latest in Islanders Country including the team's 3rd period woes, the status of Rick DiPietro, the play of Jeff Tambellini, and a heck of a lot more. In the latter portion of the episode, Frank joined the show to discuss the evening's matchup with the Pens, update us on the status of former Islanders Miroslav Satan and Ruslan Fedotenko, and let us know how our division rivals are doing thus far this year. All in all, Saturday's episode of HNLI was certainly one for the ages and by far the beast thus far this season. If you miss it, I strongly urge you to check out the archive on our show page or subscribe to the podcast version of the show by searching "Hockey Night on Long Island" in the iTunes music store.

Pre-Pens HNLI This Saturday with Special Guests
Hockey Night on Long Island will be on the air this Saturday at 3:30 PM EST in preparation for the visit of Sidney Crosby and the Penguins to the Coliseum that evening. Joining hosts Alex and Steve will be special guest (and one of my personal favorites) Gary Harding from the New York Hockey Report, New York Islanders Blog Box and of the Islanders Booster Club. Along with Gary, the crew will discuss the latest Islanders news including the status of Rick DiPietro, the latest games including Thursday night's contest with the Thrashers, the play of Kyle Okposo and the youngsters, and so much more. In the later half of the show, a leading Penguins blogger, Frank D., will join the show to preview that night's match up with the Islanders, update us on the Pens' season so far, and make some predictions. Throughout the entire hour of hockey talk, you can get in the action by giving us a phone call, an instant message, or by joining us in the HNLI chatroom. With both HNLI and a heated divisional match up, this Saturday should be one heck of a day for Isles fans! To listen, click here:

Episode Recap: Liodice and Godbout Provide Great Insight
This past Saturday's episode of Hockey Night on Long Island was another superb example of just how great of a guest Tom Liodice is. For almost an hour, the Islanders' blog box member provided hosts Alex and Steve and their listeners with his views on the Rick DiPietro situation, the first few weeks of the Islanders' season, and what is in store for the near future. Also joining HNLI was Matt Godbout of Habsworld.net, who gave a great preview of the Islanders' match up with the Canadiens on Saturday night from the opposite end of the spectrum. His insight was excellent and taught both hosts and listeners alike a lot about the Habs. Certainly, HNLI will look to bring in more guests with expertise on the opposition in the future in order to have a more complete game preview. Saturday's episode of HNLI was certainly a groundbreaking one. If you misssed it, be sure to check out the archive at the show page or subscribe to the podcast by searching "Hockey Night on Long Island" in the iTunes music store.
