HNLI Programming Update

The next episode of Hockey Night on Long Island will be Sunday May 3rd at 3:30 PM EST. Host Alex and Steve will recap the 2008-2009 Islanders season, preview the offseason and continue to discuss who the Isles should select with the first overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Of course, listeners are encouraged to call in during the show to talk about the Isles. Last week's episode was great with special guest Tom Liodice (TheTigerTrack.com) and can be listened to on the right sidebar. • As you may have noticed on our upcoming schedule, we have changed this week's episode of Hockey Night on Long Island from our normal Saturday time to SUNDAY FEBRUARY 22nd at 3:30 PM EST. Stay tuned to hockeynightonlongisland.com for updates on the special guest for this episode. HNLI hosts Alex and Steve will talk about everything surrounding the New York Islanders, including the upcoming NHL Trade Deadline. Be sure to tune into this week's episode!
• Also, Alex and Steve will be making a guest appearance tonight at 9:30 PM EST on The Sports Docket, another great BlogTalkRadio show. We will be recapping the games against the Rangers and Hurricanes, talking about the Isles prospects and discussing the Atlantic Division. To listen, click here:

We are pleased to announced that to make Saturday's HNLI Free Agency Preivew Special even more....well...uh...special, the show will start strong by bringing in Paul Kukla of Kukla's Korner right at 3:30 PM EST to kick off the show with a bang. Paul, one of the most prominent hockey bloggers in the entire hockey blog-o-sphere, will share his thoughts on the upcoming class of unrestricted free agents and shed some light on several players that the Islanders might have interest in. Callers, IMers, and HNLI chatroom chatters are invited to ask Paul your questions about free agency or voice your free agency views on air! HNLI is very excited to once again be joined by the great Paul Kukla.



Also, as previously announced, Saturday's episode of HNLI will also feature a roundtable of Islanders analysts who will discuss their thoughts on free agency and make their predictions on what direction the Isles might be headed in. The members of this roundtable are still "on the down low", but will be released sometime before the episode airs Saturday. Saturday June 14, 2008 3:30 PM EST: Special Guest Matt Ebbs (General Manager, International Scouting Services) to talk about the upcoming 2008 NHL Entry Draft and the players which the Islanders could select with the 5th overall pick.

Arbour Returns To Coach One Game with the Isles

The Islanders have announced that Hall of Fame coach Al Arbour will coach his 1,500 regular season game with the team on November 3, 2007 against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Nassau Coliseum. Current Isles coach Ted Nolan sent an invitation to Arbour earlier this week so that the legendary coach can reach an important milestone. He will sign a one-day contract on 11/2. The NHL approved the Islanders request of making him the coach for a game. I think this is a great gesture made by the team. Fans will enjoy seeing Arbour coach one last game for the team, having it be his 1,500 with the Islanders. It is great how Ted Nolan, Garth Snow, and Charles Wang continue to be very active in maintaining the great history that surrounds the team. This game is actually very big for the Isles since they are going to be facing Sidney Crosby and the Pens in an Atlantic Division battle. The Pens should be a great team this season and hopefully Arbour will be able to help get the Islander their 2 points for the game. This definitely tops the list on notable games for the Islanders this upcoming season.
